Aerial Imaging Provides a Fresh Perspective

The Sky is No Longer the Limit

Advances in technology have quickly changed how we see and share our world. Just 10-15 years ago, it was hard to believe smartphones would render digital cameras obsolete for the average Joe. We take for granted how apps like FaceTime and Zoom make it easier than ever to stay in sync–even from a world away.

Advanced imaging tech isn’t just helping us snap better selfies; it’s also changing the contracting industry for the better. Thanks to the rapid innovation of drones, it’s easier than ever to capture aerial imagery and video of job sites. A literal change of perspective has broadened the possibilities beyond what we can see and imagine.

Here at Green Energy, drones play a vital part throughout our contracting process. Our skilled and licensed drone pilot scouts our job sites before we begin, then provides visual progress updates to our clients each step of the way. If a picture is worth a thousand words, just think how much more is conveyed from a wider perspective.

We all know it’s easier to show than tell. But the possibilities of drone imaging go even further. For example, building image models can be overlaid atop an aerial photo to ensure accuracy or discover discrepancies. Drones also speed up the surveying process and help us optimize the accuracy of grading plans.

In the “old days” it was impossible to capture aerial images without the use of a helicopter or crane. Both processes were more risky, time-consuming, and expensive than flying a drone. Indeed, we’ve come a long way from the past, but the innovation shows no sign of stopping. With advances in virtual reality and 5G in the pipeline, the sky is no longer the limit.

We’re keeping our eyes and minds open to the possibilities that innovation can bring. If your civil engineering project could use a change of perspective, get in touch with us here at Green Energy Contracting.
